Taliban Agreement In Qatar

Last month, an agreement between the Taliban and government negotiators was suspended at the last minute after the Taliban criticized the document`s preamble for mentioning the Afghan government by name. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani`s spokesman, Sediq Sediqqi, said on Twitter, quoting the Afghan leader: “(The agreement) is a step forward to begin negotiations on the most important issues, including a comprehensive ceasefire as a key demand of the Afghan people.” Neither side said exactly when more substantive negotiations would begin, nor did it offer more details. ==Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad, architect of the peace process, tweeted that the two sides had “created a tripartite agreement codifying the rules and procedures of their negotiations on a political roadmap and a comprehensive ceasefire.”
