On the agenda: election of the electoral commission, selection of candidates for travel, preparation for next spring (negotiations and consolidation in particular) and other subjects. This agreement has been ratified by the bargaining unit and the Board of Directors. It was in effect on October 1, 2019. Our contract, the collective agreement, is to be followed by a new contract in the summer of 2019 and negotiations are ongoing. One of the most important points is Article 23 on wages. In this edition, we look at the salaries under the current contract and the possibilities we have to negotiate a new contract. The agreement provides for a single lump sum premium for all members of the bargaining unit. The money available for this bonus is equivalent to 4% of the total salaries of all faculty members of the unit. Let`s look carefully at the 216 12-month employees and 641 9-month employees, whose circumstances generated less statistical noise. If you look at the individual percentage increases for each of the 12-month-olds, the average increase was 12.4% and the median was 9.4%. Interestingly, 12-month employees, who had higher salaries in 2015, tend to receive higher percentage increases: 12-month employees are a more heterogeneous group, and we must keep in mind that there appears to be a subset of 12-month employees whose percentage increases decreased with the salary increase for 2015.
